Golf facility construction project gains momentum at Golf Resort at Indian Wells
CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW CLIVE CLARK COURSE ON SCHEDULE

INDIAN WELLS, California. – Construction of the new Clive Clark Golf Course at The Golf Resort at Indian Wells is on schedule: all 18 holes are completely grassed; all the greens have been sprigged with TifEagle Bermudagrass; the bunkers are filled; fairways and tees are sprigged with Bermudagrass and slopes and other important features have been sodded with 419. The grow-in is going very well, as Bermudagrass thrives in the Coachella Valley’s high temperatures, ample sunlight and the high humidity of summer.

The golf course’s many water features (holes 4, 5, 6, 9 and 13-18) are completed, and a noise abatement wall along highway 111 will be completed by the middle of August. As the cooler temperatures of fall approach, the new Clive Clark course will be overseeded with winter Ryegrass in early October, with a grand opening scheduled for early November.

“We’re very pleased with the progress to date,” said Roger Behling, Golf Resort Director for the City of Indian Wells. “At the onset of a project of this size there are a lot of critical details and time sensitive progressions. I’m thrilled to say that our expectations have been met if not exceeded in every case.”

In an effort to bolster its reputation and build upon a history of success, The City of Indian Wells has reinvested in tourism through an ambitious golf facility construction project. Currently, the original Ted Robinson-designed East Course is up and running to accommodate public and resort play. When the new Clive Clark Course opens, construction will begin on the new John Fought Course. In addition to the new golf courses, The Golf Resort at Indian Wells will boast a new 50,000 square foot, Douglas Fredrikson-designed clubhouse and a new spacious practice facility. The entire project – Clive Clark Course, John Fought Course and the new clubhouse – will be completed in November of 2007. Recently, the original clubhouse was demolished and a temporary clubhouse was erected that will house the golf shop, Callaway Golf Performance Center, refreshment center and administrative offices.

“It’s been a pleasure working with Wadsworth Construction. We’ve made good progress on the Clive Clark Course, and we’re eager to get started on the new John Fought Course,” said Orrin Vincent, owner and co-founder of OB Sports Golf Management. “At the beginning of this project, we set very high standards, and now that the finish line is in sight, it’s very gratifying to see it all turn out so well. Hat’s off to everyone involved.”

Located in Southern California’s Coachella Valley, The Golf Resort at Indian Wells has been a staple golf destination for nearly 20 years. With the new golf facility on the horizon plus four high-end resorts within a stones-throw, The Golf Resort at Indian Wells offers an amenity-rich experience.
